Terms Used for Caribbean Stud Poker

When it comes to playing the game of Caribbean Stud Poker, the terms used can be rather confusing to all those players who are not well versed with Caribbean Poker terminology. These terms are especially confusing for those players who have just begun to play poker. Below are some of the most popular terms and their explanations that are frequently used in the game of Caribbean Stud Poker:

• Ante: The ante is typically depicted on the table in the form of a square or a circle. The ante stands for the bet that each participant must put for the purpose of the cards being dealt out.

• Bet: The bet is symbolized on the poker table in the form of a treasure chest, a circle or even a square. The term Bet stands for a wager that is precisely twice the amount of the Ante and it has to “call” the dealer.

• Bluffing: The term bluff has a different meaning when it is applied to the game of Caribbean Poker. In this case it refers to a participant who sticks with an unfavorable hand because he hopes that the dealer won’t qualify. In this case the meaning of the word bluff does not stand for a bluff in the true sense.

• Calling the dealer: The term ‘calling out the dealer’ basically means that the hands are being played out by the player. This is directly contrary to the term ‘folding’.

• Drop Slot: This term refers to a table slot at which a participant puts a single digit bet towards the progressive jackpot.

• Folding: The term Folding means that you throw in your cards or forfeit the hand because you believe you will lose against the dealer. The term folding is directly contrary to the term ‘calling’.
