Little Blind: The Little Blind is the initial wager made in a forced wager game like the game of Texas Holdem. The little blind can also point to the player who is posting the wager. This player is the initial player to make a move in the game. This is because either he is seated on the left hand side of the dealer or he is the player in possession of the button of the dealer. This person puts an amount equivalent to half of the ante into the pot. At this point in the game no cards have been handed out to the players as yet.

Big Blind: This wager is the second wager when it comes to forced wager games or the player placing the wager. The person who is seated on the left hand seat of the Little Blind puts the Big Blind. This is a chip amount equivalent to the ante which is placed in the pot. At this point in the game no cards have been handed out to the players as yet.

Big Pair: The term Big Pair means a pair of highly ranked cards.

Top Pair: When the game being played utilises community cards and three cards are on the table, each having a different rank and you own a card that matches the one with the highest rank, in such a case you have what is known as a Top Pair.

Painted Pair: The word ‘Painted’ stands for a face or a card known as a royal card. The term Painted Pair therefore is a pair of Kacks, Kings or Queens.

Cold: The term Cold stands for zero action. It also stands for “in a row”. When it is said that a game might be Cold, it basically implies that no money is being wagered. An other way of looking at it is that you may “get 3 Jacks cold”. This basically means that you got 3 in a row.
