1. Do not show the cards that you are holding while playing a hand. Although doing so does not breach any regulations, it is a terrible break in manners. Also, certain poker places might fine you. In the case of you not throwing in your cards, the cards that you are holding will be considered dead. The issue with this is that it can result in a particular participant gaining over some one else. It can lead to spoiling a pot for some other player. In the case of this happening by mistake, you should apologise profusely.
2. In the case of you throwing in your cards and then realising that your cards would have been brilliant on the flop, do not make it obvious to everyone that you made a huge mistake. This means do not stand up and start yelling, or slam your hand on the table or do anything equally dramatic.
3. Do not be rude to another player. Never make fun of the way he plays and never use any bad language. Never ever go on about how good you are at poker. On the other hand of someone does that to you, you should simply grin and agree good naturedly.
4. Do not yell at the dealer and make him the cause of your bad luck. Do not refuse to tip him just because you got a rotten hand. The dealer honestly has nothing to do with the cards that you receive. They are simply carrying out their job.
5. Do not discuss a game when you are not a part of it. Telling an active player what to do and what not to do is a breach in regulations in almost every poker place. Nobody is interested in listening to what you believe is right or wrong.
