Backgammon is so famed because it blends fate, dexterity and strategy in the right proportions. Where exactly does luck and intuition come into play in Backgammon? Well, the backbone of the game of Backgammon is the roll of the dice. Hence, a lot depends on what the dice has in store for the player. One great roll for the Backgammon players is explained below. Let us see how it effect on the game:
Moving if the doubles are rolled
As mentioned before, the crux the game of Backgammon is the roll of the dice. Usually the number rolled by the two dice directs the player on the exact number of points that he can move forward. However, some players are as lucky to roll the doubles. But what does it mean to roll doubles? When the player rolls the dice and the numbers on both the dice are the same, the player is said to have rolled the double in Backgammon. For example, a player rolls the number 4 on both the dice. In a normal roll, the numbers rolled are indicators of the number of points the checkers move ahead. Hence, if the dice rolls a 4 and a 5 then the player can move 9 points in all. Whether he chooses to move one checker or more is up to him. However, in case the doubles are rolled, the player is supposed to play each die twice. Therefore, if a player rolls two 5s, he must play the first die twice and move 5 x 2 = 10 points ahead. Then, he must move another 10 points ahead for the roll of the second die. In all, the player is allowed to move 20 points on the board.
Such doubles are not rolled very often. This is where your luck helps you. Many Backgammon superstitions are based on the roll of these doubles.
